Ms. Gibbons is an experienced healthcare administrator in both the for-profit and non-profit sectors beginning in 1973 with HCA Bayshore Medical Center. In 1985, she teamed up with general surgeon, Dr. Dixie Melillo, and founded The Rose, a non-profit organization for breast cancer screening, diagnosis and support. Ms. Gibbons has led The Rose from its inception, growing it from its grassroots beginning to one of the most respected breast health organizations in Texas. With an annual operating budget of 5 million and a staff of 52, with 200+ volunteers, The Rose provides over 50,000 medical and educational services to the community. Its Empower Her Sponsorship Program, an innovative program providing access to care and treatment for the uninsured, has received national recognition. The Rose Physician Network, with 500 members, annually donates over 2 million dollars in treatment and hospital services to the uninsured. In 2005, Ms. Gibbons created the Greater Houston Area Breast Health Summit which has since spawned a The Breast Health Collaborative of Texas, statewide initiative among breast healthcare providers and social service agencies to improve access to care for the uninsured. “Empowering Women” has been a life-long passion for Ms. Gibbons, who is a published author, a public speaker, a certified Yoga instructor and a dream interpreter. She currently serves as a board member for five State and local non-profit organizations. She holds a BA in communications.
