Elizabeth Eaton Bio

Elizabeth K. Eaton, Executive Director, Houston Academy of Medicine-Texas Medical Center Library and Director NN/LM, National Network of Library of Medicine, South Central Region, National Library of Medicine. From 1982-2001 she was Director,Tufts University Health Sciences Library, Boston, MA. Education includes, BA, Hood College, Frederick, MD; Masters in Library Sciences, UCLA, CA; and Ph.D, School of Biomedical Sciences, UTMB, Galveston, Texas. At Tufts she helped with a strategic planning effort. The resultant plan led to the development of the Health Sciences Database (HSDB), a curriculum management database for the Tufts University health sciences schools. In February 2001, the HSDB received a CIO Enterprise Value Award, the first academic institution to receive this award. She is currently secretary of SCAMeL, South Central Academic Medical Library Association and serves as a mentor for the NLM/AAHSL, National Library of Medicine/Association Academic Health Sciences Libraries Fellowship Program.
