Karin Larson-Pollock Bio

Karin Larson-Pollock, who joined The Methodist Hospital in 2004, serves as Vice President, Operations. Among her many duties, she coordinates the strategic planning process for The Methodist Hospital, serves as the executive of Women's Services, Medicine, Pathology/Lab, Respiratory Services, Digestive Disease, Weight Management, and the Clinical Research Center, and serves as the preceptor and program coordinator of the Administrative Fellowship and Internship Programs. Karin is deeply committed to the development of young leaders in the health care field and is responsible for overseeing the development and recruitment of the administrative fellowship program at Methodist. She currently serves on the boards of Santa Maria Hostel, a United Way agency that provides chemical dependency treatment and rehabilitation for alcohol and drugs in residential and outpatient settings for women and their children, the TMC Women’s Health Network, an organization of health professionals dedicated to advancing women's health through collaborations in education, research, and advocacy, and the South Main Center Association, a non-profit organization that serves to promote and improve the South Main Center area of Houston, Texas - encompassing the Texas Medical Center, the Museum District, Rice University, and the Reliant Park Complex. Karin graduated magna cum laude from The University of Montana in 1993 with a degree in Business Administration / Marketing and a minor in German. After serving as a Small Business Advisor with the United States Peace Corps for a health center in Nairobi, Kenya, she retuned to the U.S. and received her Doctor of Medicine degree from Northwestern University Medical School in 2002, and a Masters in Business Administration from the Kellogg School of Business at Northwestern University in 2003. After completing a Preliminary Year in Internal Medicine at Baylor College of Medicine, Dr. Larson-Pollock joined The Methodist Hospital System as an Administrative Fellow in 2004, and has served in the roles of Project Director, Executive Director of Strategic Planning and Women’s Services, and Vice President, Operations at Methodist. Her previous work experience includes pharmaceutical sales with Rhone-Poulenc Rorer Pharmaceuticals (now Aventis) and market development with the neurological division of Medtronic, Inc. Karin and her husband, Darren, live in Houston with their two young children and two dogs.
