Kathryn Sheaffer Stream, Ph.D is the Senior Vice President, and Director, National Center for Human Performance, Texas Medical Center and reports to Chief Executive Officer, Dr. Richard Wainerdi. She has responsibility for facilitating areas of health and higher education with the 45 member Institutions of the Texas Medical Center. Through the National Center for Human Performance, she promotes research in the arts, sports, space, and the military. Education: BA, Psychology, Vanderbilt University, Nashville, Tennessee; MA, Audiology, Northwestern University, Evanston, Illinois; Ph.D. in Preventive Medicine and Community Health, Graduate School of Biomedical Sciences, University of Texas Medical Branch, Galveston, Texas. In 1998 a certificate program at the Wharton College of Business, University of Pennsylvania. Her previous position was Texas Woman’s University Vice-Provost for Health Affairs and Chief Operating Officer, Institute of Health Sciences-Houston. Dr. Stream has been chosen for many leadership positions including Leadership Houston, 1992 and Leadership Texas, 1990. She was selected one of Houston’s 'Women on the Move' in 1992. She was honored by the Texas Senate in Senate Proclamation 2574 in 1993 for her volunteer work in the State particularly in the area of car seat safety for children. She received the March of Dimes Distinguished Service Award in Houston in 1994. Also in 1994, she was appointed by the Governor of Texas to the Board of Trustees, Teacher Retirement System of Texas for a six-year term. She served as Vice Chair of the Teacher Retirement System of Texas for 1998 and 1999. She is a current member of the Advisory Board, Health, Law and Policy Institute, University of Houston; Board of Directors for the Houston Academy of Medicine, Texas Medical Center Library; Board of Directors of the Texas Medical Center Laundry; and Vice Chair of the Board of the Thermal Energy Corporation (TECO).
