Ruth (Danielle) SoRelle Bio

Ruth SoRelle has been chief science editor at Baylor College of Medicine since 1998. She serves as editor of two online newsletters From the Laboratories at Baylor College of Medicine http://www.bcm.edu/fromthelab and Findings at Baylor College of Medicine. She is also a co-editor of Solutions, BCM’s printed magazine. She was the Houston Chronicle's medical writer for 20 years. In that role she won more than 60 awards, including the American Medical Writers' Association John P. McGovern Award and the international health reporting award from the Pan American Health Organization for a special section on AIDS in Romanian children. Other awards include the community service award from the Associated Press' Managing Editors' group for a series on the actions of the Texas State Medical Board, the Houston Health Leadership and the Texas Human Rights Foundation media award for reporting on AIDS locally, nationally and internationally. She has a bachelor's in journalism with honors from the University of Texas at Austin and a master's in public health from UT School of Public Health here. In her newspaper career, she won more than 60 awards for her science and medical writing.
